What is COPD?<\/h3>\n

COPD - Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease - is a chronic respiratory disease with narrowing and obstruction in the airways. It is characterised by shortness of breath, chronic cough and increased mucus and sputum production. The disease is progressive and not completely curable. There is no evidence yet that drugs can slow the progression of the disease or even cure it, but it is possible to effectively help patients and alleviate the symptoms - especially shortness of breath - that most disturb them in their daily lives. In the very advanced stages of COPD, the patient lives with a constant feeling of suffocation and shortness of breath, so it is important to prevent the disease in the first place.<\/p>\n

Why does it happen?<\/h3>\n

COPD is most often caused by inhaled tobacco smoke particles. Less commonly, it is caused by inhalation of smoke from combustion, as well as other gases. The airways become inflamed (chronic bronchitis), manifested by persistent coughing and expectoration. Over time, the lung follicles also become damaged and collapse, leading to lung congestion (emphysema). This disease is therefore described as chronic (permanent) obstructive (constricting) lung disease. It is called COPD for short after the first letters.<\/p>\n

Symptoms of COPD<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The most common symptoms in COPD patients are chronic and advanced dyspnoea (shortness of breath), coughing and expectoration from the lungs. In addition to these symptoms, COPD patients usually suffer from the systemic consequences of the disease, or other comorbid diagnoses such as heart failure, skeletal muscle deterioration, osteoporosis, depression, etc.<\/p>\n

How to relieve COPD symptoms with the IONEX Ioniser<\/h3>\n

In this way, the heart works more efficiently, beats more slowly on exertion and blood pressure is normalised.<\/p>\n
